CARLYN CARPER
As a licensed professional counselor, my philosophy is that clients are the experts on their lives and I am a guide to help them get to their ideal selves. Solution focused therapy is my strength. Through the use of cognitive-behavioral, insight oriented therapy, I help clients achieve their goals. While I am nurturing and kind as a therapist, I also believe in keeping clients accountable to work toward their initial purpose for entering therapy. With the exception of addiction, I am qualified to work with most issues that a client may present with.
My specialties include anxiety disorders, PTSD, and other trauma focused therapies. I am trained in CBT-I for insomnia as well as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), a specialty technique for trauma, and equine assisted EMDR psychotherapy, which is conducted at Hidden Hill Stables in Scott Township. I also have training in the EAGALA method of equine assisted psychotherapy.
I have a love for animals and Auzzy, my certified therapy dog, is present at most client sessions to provide comfort and support. I also believe in spirituality as part of the therapeutic process, and meet clients where they are when it comes to mind, body, and spirit.
